Recently, I had the inspiring opportunity to share my knowledge and passion for design thinking with the members of JCI Bataan at their MARKUP event. MARKUP, which stands for "Mentoring, Advancement, Research, Knowledge, and Upskilling of Professionals," aims to equip JCI members with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.
Building upon the previous speaker's insights into the Philippine startup landscape, I presented a comprehensive overview of Design Thinking 101. My discussion focused on the key principles and applications of Design Thinking, highlighting its immense value for both organizations and individuals venturing into the world of startups.
Beyond the theoretical framework, I delved into practical details, sharing personal experiences and showcasing the diverse use cases for design thinking. From exploring its various tools and strategies to emphasizing its power in creating effective and innovative solutions, I aimed to provide a clear and actionable understanding for the audience.
The discussion concluded with a focus on "Green Design Thinking"—a crucial aspect I learned about at the DT|UX Summit 2023. This concept emphasizes the importance of designing solutions with a future-oriented perspective. We discussed the need to avoid "defuturing" in product development, embracing reusability, and fostering a design philosophy that prioritizes both humanity and sustainability.
JCI Bataan's enthusiasm and dedication were truly inspiring. Witnessing their eagerness to learn and embrace design thinking as a valuable tool solidified my belief in the power of knowledge sharing and collaboration. It was a privilege to contribute to their upskilling journey, and I look forward to witnessing the impactful projects they create through the application of design thinking principles.
