When I first heard about “UX,” I was a freshman in college. I had just joined a campus organization called UX Society, partially out of interest but mostly because my friends and upperclassmen were there. At the general assembly of that organization, little did I know that “UX” would become a huge part of my life. It was in UX Society where I learned about the UX+ Conference. I was nothing but a wide-eyed freshie with no money in my pockets, and only a burning aspiration to attend the UX+ Conference.
The UX+ Conference is all about fostering connection and learning among UX Professionals. Today, that very spirit came alive. We delved into the fascinating and incredibly inclusive user research approach championed by Fonz Morris from Netflix. Meta’s Yutong Xue and Yunan Xue painted a vivid picture of the diverse career paths open to designers, while Aditi Kulkarni (formerly Shopify) eloquently demonstrated how UX principles lay the groundwork for practical applications. The learning gleaned from each other was truly enriching.
Every UXer knows the mantra, “it depends.” This is ingrained in every interaction we have within the industry. Our training is about adopting this mindset. But, how do we navigate situations where the answer truly “depends”? How do we discover the specifics of that “dependence”? Events like UX+ Conference serve as a powerful guide, showcasing practical approaches to tackling these very situations.
The event was truly and brilliantly a SLAY — an experience I will truly cherish. And guess what? I’m already counting down the days to UX+ Conference 2024!
Cheers + congratulations to Christian San Jose, Alexis Collado, and of course, the rest of the organizing team, for successfully bringing this event to life (again)!"
